Tom Heye is well known in the Tri-Cities for his work in the areas of elder law, estate planning, trusts, probate, guardianships, real estate, business formations, and contract law.
He has worked with many families in guiding them through the trauma of dealing with parents faced with Alzheimer’s and other problems brought on by aging. He has assisted many families in applying for Medicaid and avoiding the pitfalls involved in the process.
Mr. Heye has prepared thousands of wills, community property agreements, durable powers of attorney, and trusts including revocable and irrevocable living trusts, special needs trusts, and testamentary trusts. He works with clients to ensure that their estates pass to their heirs at the least expense possible and in the most expeditious manner. Mr. Heye handles probates and litigation among heirs on a regular basis, aiming to accelerate the probate process so that heirs do not have to wait years before receiving their inheritances.
When family members are no longer able to care for themselves personally or manage their financial affairs, Mr. Heye has helped many families set up guardianships for loved ones in need of special assistance.
Mr. Heye has also helped many clients over the years with selling and purchasing homes, apartments, and commercial buildings. His experience includes handling real estate closings and drafting easements, leases, well agreements, road maintenance agreements, as well as purchase and sale agreements.
Mr. Heye assists clients in setting up and maintaining business ventures. He assists clients in choosing the type of business entity which will best suit their needs, from sole proprietorships to partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations. Mr. Heye knows the importance of having well-drawn contracts in all business ventures, and assists clients in avoiding expensive lawsuits generated by poor contracts by reviewing proposed contracts.
